Convenient Drop-Off and Live Market Sharpening

Serving Sun Prairie, Madison, Cottage Grove, DeForest, Monnona, Middleton, Verona, and all of Dane County, my sharpening service offers several straightforward ways to keep your knives, scissors, and garden tools working the way they should. Whether you prefer a secure 24 hour drop box, quick live sharpening while you run errands, or scheduled on site service, each option is designed to be simple, predictable, and fast. Most standard items are sharpened in 30 minutes or less when done live, while shop drop off items are typically completed and ready for pickup the next day. I also visit many farmers markets and events in and around the Madison area to give you options. 

Option 1: Secure Drop-Off at My Shop

Location: 215 E Main St, Sun Prairie, WI

Dropping Off:

• Gather your knives, scissors, or tools and securely wrap them together in a kitchen towel or newspaper. Multiple items can be bundled together—no need to wrap each individually.
• Just inside the front door, you’ll find a clearly marked black drop box.
• Enter code 299181, press OK, then turn the square knob to the right to open. Place your bundled items inside.
• Fill out the provided contact card with your name, phone number (please indicate text or call), and any special instructions, and leave it with your items.

Picking Up:

• Items are typically sharpened within 24 hours. I'll text or call when your sharpening is complete.
• You’ll receive a pickup code (also 299181). Enter the code, press OK, then turn the square knob to the right again to collect your sharpened items.
• Pickup codes are used only at the shop drop box. Market pickups never require a code.

Option 2: Live Sharpening at Farmers Markets

Most knives and scissors qualify for live sharpening at the market and are ready for pickup in 30 minutes or less.

How It Works:

• Bring your items bundled safely in a kitchen towel or newspaper secured with a rubber band or tape. Multiple items can be bundled together.
• Hand the items directly to me at the booth, browse the market, and return shortly afterward to collect your professionally sharpened blades.

Option 3: 30 Minute Live Sharpening By Appointment

Location: 291 E Linnerud Dr, Sun Prairie, WI - (across the street from Nitty Gritty Sun Prairie)

Appointments help ensure minimal wait time and consistent turnaround

Note: Most standard kitchen knives, pocket knives, scissors, and pruning shears qualify for live, quick-turnaround sharpening. Larger or severely dull items may need overnight sharpening at the shop, with pickup available the following day.

Clear and Simple Pricing

All sharpening services include professional edge repair, reprofiling as needed, and careful hand-finishing:

• Standard Sharpening:
  Large Knives: $10 per knife/item
  Small Knives: $5 per knife/item
• Custom Angle or Whetstone-Only Sharpening:
  Specialty blades, premium steels, or resetting factory edge angles: $20 per knife/item

Scissors and Shears

• General household scissors or fabric scissors: $10 per pair
• Hair cutting, barber, salon, or pet grooming shears: $30 per pair
  
• Hair Clipper Blades Barbers, Salons and Pet Groomers: $15 per pair

These are fully disassembled, sharpened by hand, and carefully reassembled and tested.

Payment Information

• Cash preferred (use provided yellow envelopes at the drop box).
• Credit/debit cards or checks gladly accepted.
• Payment is due when you pick up your items.
